The holiday season is sneaking up on us again this year, and it\u2019s almost time to start driving around to look at the best Christmas light displays. Driving around the neighborhood looking at the decorated homes is one of our favorite things to do, but if you want to try something a little different this year, we\u2019ve put together a list of the\u00a012 best Christmas light displays that you can find in Texas.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Love the holiday season but hate decorating? See how\u00a0Shine of Dallas\u00a0<\/a>and\u00a0S<\/a>hine of Austin<\/a>\u00a0can\u00a0turn your home into the most festive<\/a>\u00a0in the neighborhood!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

12. Hill Country\u2019s Lighting Trai<\/strong>l<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Hill Country Lighting Trail is a sight that you must see during the holiday season; ten nearby towns work together to provide a\u00a0massive, shimmering light display from San Antonio to Austin.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some of the towns you might want to stop by are Burnet, which transforms the city into a full-scale recreation of Bethlehem, and Fredericksburg, displaying their German heritage with a full-scale, European-themed Marktplatz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

San Antonio\u2019s River Walk Lights<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

During the holiday season,\u00a0the San Antonio River turns into a fantastic sight<\/a>\u00a0with\u00a0over 100,000 twinkling Christmas lights<\/strong>\u00a0on display. At the beginning of the season, the town throws a massive parade to kick off the show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout December, lighted boats mozy on the river as an additional decoration. Some of these boats provide music and entertainment for those enjoying the lights, and others even have passengers enjoying a meal while sailing through the display.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cleburne\u2019s Whistle Stop Christmas Lights<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Just south of Fort Worth, Cleburne\u2019s Whistle Stop light show has been\u00a0a fan-favorite<\/a>\u00a0for over 20 years<\/strong>. The downtown market square has every inch decorated with lights and other seasonal displays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In early December, the festival starts with a lighted Christmas parade that marches through the city and ends in the market square. After the parade, you can browse for gifts, see Santa Claus, or take a stroll through the lighted town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Richmond\u2019s Campfire Christmas<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Campfire Christmas is\u00a0an experience that you won\u2019t find outside of Texas<\/a>\u00a0— this is a celebration just like the original pioneers would have had. This\u00a0\u201cCowboy Christmas\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0in Richmond takes place at the George Ranch Historical Park, where you can have an old-fashioned Christmas dinner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Take a hay wagon around the park, see the Jones Stock Farm all decorated with lights, and listen to old-time stories told by the light of candles at the Richmond Campfire Christmas. The park also hosts a Children\u2019s Campfire Christmas and a New Year\u2019s Eve party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Frisco\u2019s Christmas in the Square<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Christmas in the Square<\/a>\u00a0is often called the largest light and music show in all of Northern Texas for a good reason. With\u00a0over 750,000 visitors each year<\/strong>, family and friends come from all over the country to see the spectacular show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regardless of the weather forecast, you can enjoy a winter wonderland in Frisco — they have snow machines in the square to help create the real feeling of Christmas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addison\u2019s Vitruvian Lights<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Beginning just after Thanksgiving, the Vitruvian Lights in Addison\u00a0transforms the park into a magical place<\/strong>. It features an incredible light display, with all of the trees decorated along with the rest of Vitruvian Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lights are up and running every night until January, and they have live music each Saturday of the season — it\u2019s the perfect place to see an incredible Christmas display.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Houston\u2019s Zoo Lights<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

From November to January, the Houston Zoo gets\u00a0decked out in Christmas style<\/a>\u00a0for each visitor to enjoy. You can see their\u00a0black light jungle displays and amazing light animals<\/strong>\u00a0as well as the regular zoo attractions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other than the animals and decorations, they offer other activities like caroling and gingerbread house decorating. The Houston Zoo Lights is a festival that the whole family can enjoy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fort Worth\u2019s Gift of Lights<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Fort Worth’s Texas Motor Speedway puts on a massive drive-through Christmas light display each year. With\u00a0over 600 displays spread across the 1.5-mile track<\/strong>, it is a sight to be seen for sure. In the middle of the track, you can visit Santa\u2019s Village, where you can get snacks, hot cocoa, and, of course, meet with Santa Claus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Starting right before Thanksgiving, you have\u00a0plenty of time to plan a visit<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Johnson City\u2019s Lights Spectacular<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Johnson City Blanco County Courthouse hosts one of\u00a0the most impressive Christmas light displays<\/a>\u00a0in all of Texas. The courthouse and the area around it are\u00a0decorated with over 100,000 lights<\/strong>, and the best part is that it\u2019s completely free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Opening on the last weekend of November and running through all of December, make sure to stop by and see Johnson City decorated in all of its glory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marble Fall\u2019s Walkway of Lights<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One of the largest holiday events,\u00a0the Walkway of Lights in Marble Falls<\/a>, features\u00a0over 2 million lights and hundreds of sculptures in Lakeside Park.<\/strong>\u00a0They also host an annual parade that marks the opening of the park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can walk through the park in half an hour, but you\u2019ll probably spend a lot more time looking at all of the decorations. On the weekends, children can see Santa and his elves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Odessa\u2019s Starbright Village<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In Odessa, McKinney Park is home to the Starbright Village each holiday season that is on display nightly each day of December. Withalmost 300,000 lights and all of your favorite Christmas tunes<\/strong>, the Starbright Village is the largest light display in the Permian Basin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can walk or drive through the park\u2019s light displays, and Santa makes an appearance on Friday and Saturday nights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

San Saba\u2019s Christmas Extravaganza<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout the season, Mill Pond Park in San Saba turns into a real Christmas extravaganza. Also known as the\u201cDancing Lights\u201d<\/strong>, the entire light display is synced with a local radio station so that you can tune in and\u00a0watch the lights dance to your favorite Christmas songs.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event is entirely free, and you can either take a stroll through the park or drive around listening to the music as the lights shimmer to the beat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n
